First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit
A tax credit of up to $8,000 is now available for qualified first-time home buyers purchasing a principal residence on or after January 1, 2009 and before April 30, 2010. In addition, the new legislation has created a $6,500 tax credit for current homeowners who have been in their home consecutively for 5 of the previous 8 years.
